Chess but the board doesnt matter is a variant of chess I have created. in chess but the board doesnt matter, the pieces can move any where in a radius that is larger the more value the piece has (this doesnt apply for the king). And yes, this also means pieces can go between squares on the board. But pieces are also able to go through other pieces no matter what the piece is AND pieces from can stack up in the same area if the pieces are on the same team.
