Maria is a (very loose) paraphrase on the famous game Supermario. Except instead of a male hero the protagonist who has to save the princess is her girlfriend. Even though the narrative in Supermario is scarce, and by far not the main focus of the game, it still manages to convey a pretty strong heteronormative message - which is exactly what we are trying to challenge in Maria.
