I want to raise awareness for the struggles bowhead whales have gone through in the past several decades, as well as highlight the changes that threaten them now. They were declared endangered in 1970 due to over whaling. In 1990, despite a recovery of their population levels they began to face changes in their migration patterns, their ability to hide from predators, and their health due to arctic ice melting because of climate change.
