雲書 | 云书 | Cloud Book

Cloud Book is a modern day homage to Xu Bings 天書 or "A Book From the Sky." I was inspired by the typography and radical system used by Chinese characters and wanted to analyze them formally, tearing and rebuilding them without meaning attached. These characters draw from common and uncommon characters in Chinese as well as in the Zhuang (Sawndip) and Tangut scripts. While some of their components may appear familiar, none of these generated characters currently exist in any language.
