Spider-Man 2 on PS2 came out in 2004 and I have been insufferable about it ever since, so consider the source.

This is a better game in every measurable way and I had less fun with it, and I've concluded the reason is that it's too polished. In the PS2 game you could miss. The web had to hit an actual surface, so going fast meant reading the skyline and sometimes eating a street at 60mph. Here the assist catches you. It feels incredible and it never goes wrong, and something in me needs it to occasionally go wrong.

Everything else is better. The story is better, the city is better, the combat is far better.

A B is me admitting this is a nostalgia problem, not a quality problem, and rating it honestly anyway. If you did not spend 2004 swinging into a bus, add a tier and enjoy yourself.
