This is a very good game that I am the wrong person for, and I've decided that's allowed.
Everything people praise is true. The art is gorgeous, the soundtrack is the best thing Darren Korb has done, the writing is sharp and the voice acting carries it. I put in about 25 hours and I never once thought it was badly made.
I just don't want to do the same four biomes again. I've known this about myself since roguelikes became unavoidable around 2015 and Hades hasn't changed it. The story being doled out per run is clever and it's also a very effective way of making me feel like I'm being paid in instalments for labour I didn't agree to.
A B is me being honest that this is a taste problem, not a quality problem. If you like the genre add a tier. If you're like me, the soundtrack is on streaming and you can have the best part for free.
